Weiyang Guan

B.S. University of Wisconsin-Madison

Advisor: Jennifer M. Schomaker

Weiyang Guan was born in Wenzhou, China and spent most of her childhood in Hangzhou, a gorgeous city near her hometown. Weiyang majored in accounting in China before she transferred to University of Wisconsin-Madison and changed her major to Chemistry. At UW-Madison, she spent one year in Prof. Ive Hermans’ group focusing on the synthesis of catalysts BN and BCN. Later, she joined Prof. Jennifer Schomaker’s group due to her interest in organic chemistry. While in Jen’s group, Weiyang worked on the synthesis of allene derivatives and the development of a new Nef reaction. Outside of Chemistry, Weiyang enjoys hiking, swimming and cooking (eating to be more exactly).
