Jonas was born in Saarbrücken in Germany but moved to his hometown Mainz at a young age. In the midst of Fastnacht and Wein he discovered his passion for chemistry, as a well-known German song goes: “Im Schatten des Doms”. During high school he decided to peruse a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the Johannes Gutenberg- University in Mainz. Jonas got his B.Sc. doing research in electrochemical C-H oxidation development in the Lab of Prof. S. R. Waldvogel. In 2019, he moved to Ithaca to conduct research in Song Lin’s group.
