Advisor: Nicholas L. Abbott
Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellow

Xin was born and raised in Datong, Shanxi, China, and moved to Taiyuan for high school. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at Zhejiang University with Honors and a minor in Finance. During her time at Zhejiang University, she worked on gas-responsive star polymers for catalysis in the group of Professor Wenjun Wang. In the summer of her junior year, she attended the REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison with Professor Nicholas L. Abbott, and returned to the Abbott group for PhD study later. In 2018, she transferred to Cornell with her advisor to continue the research on the design of functional soft materials. After completing her PhD in 2022, she would like to learn machine learning and work on the interface of Science and AI for her postdoc. She received Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellowship, and joined the Lin group to work on machine learning for organic electrosynthesis. In her free time (or she makes some time free), she enjoys archery, learning and coaching in Ithaca Archery Club, and serves as the Head Coach of the Cornell Archery Club/Team.
