Yifan Shen

B.S. Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Advisors: Xiaomin Xie and Zhaoguo Zhang

Yifan was born and raised in Shanghai, China, and studied chemistry at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. During his undergrad, Yifan conducted research on Copper catalyzed oxidation of amines to nitriles and wrote his thesis under the advice of Dr. Xiaomin Xie and Dr. Zhaoguo Zhang. After a seven month exchange program in Dr. John Wolfe’s lab at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, he decided to pursue his chemistry Ph. D. in the USA and accepted the offer from Cornell University. He was intrigued by radical based chemistry, especially photochemistry and electrochemistry, thus, he joined Dr. Song Lin’s lab in 2017.
