B.S. University of California, Davis
Advisor: David E. Olson
Elya was born and raised in sunny Northern California. After graduating from high school, Elya joined the laboratories of Dr. John Goeltz at CSUMB where she characterized new materials for redox-flow battery applications and spearheaded outreach efforts to make electrochemistry research accessible for undergraduate students. Unwilling to leave the superior Californian weather she pursued her B.S. in chemistry and minor in education at UC Davis. During this time Elya worked under Professor David Olson developing modular synthetic routes towards complex alkaloids. She later spent a summer mechanistically interrogating electroreductive C-C bond forming transformations with Professor Sarah Reisman. Elya joined Lin Lab during the fall of 2022 as an NSF Fellow. When she isn’t being an ignorant Californian you can find Elya hiking, cooking, baking, binge watching reality TV (wants to be a Kardashian), missing the sun, or mindlessly tweeting.
