Ph.D. UT Southwestern Medical Center
Advisor: Joseph M. Ready
James was born and raised on a farm in rural Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. He attended Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, completing his B.S. in Chemistry in 2018. While at Juniata, he worked with Dr. Richard Hark to synthesize selectively deuterated poly(benzyloxy)benzene species for mass spectrometry studies. After his undergraduate degree, James relocated to the great state of Texas for graduate studies in organic chemistry. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas in 2024 under the tutelage of Dr. Joseph Ready. His Ph.D. focused on developing new stereoselective multicomponent couplings for the synthesis of organoboron compounds via 1,2-metalate rearrangements of alkenyl boronate complexes. James now returns to the northeast to experience all four seasons once again, and to continue investigating new chemical endeavors in the Lin Group. Outside of the laboratory, James is an avid golfer and enjoys being outdoors. James also enjoys watching movies, playing boardgames, and other stereotypical nerd stuff.
