John Putziger

B.S. Purdue University
Advisor: Jianguo Mei

John was born and raised in the Washington D.C. area. He graduated from McLean High School in VA and pursued undergraduate studies at Purdue University. He was a member of the Purdue Honors College. By the second week he joined the Dr. Jianguo Mei Research Group, a laboratory focused on the development of organic semiconducting polymers that could be incorporated into flexible and printable electronic devices. For his research experience into synthesizing and assessing properties of organic semiconducting polymers, he was awarded one of three Astronaut Scholarships given to Purdue students in 2021. During his freshman year Summer, he took part in a study abroad focused on Science and Social Progress to Bogotá, Colombia with the intent of improving international collaboration to promote societal sustainability. From this experience, he became interested in the connection between science and policy and interned with the federal government for two summers. John joined the lab in the Fall of 2022. When not being overwhelmed with graduate work, you can find him in the chemistry lounge playing ping-pong or walking around Ithaca at one of its many beautiful nature parks. Do not ask him about a political science or policy topic, because if you do, he will not stop talking.
