Zhipeng Lu

B.S. Sichuan University
M.S. UC Santa Barbara, Advisor: Lior Sepunaru

Zhipeng was born in Wenzhou, China. He lived in this nice coastal city for 18 years until he moved to Chengdu where he studied chemistry at Sichuan University. During his junior year, he had the chance to join the Molander group at UPenn as a visiting scholar to investigate photoredox/nickel dual catalysis. Full-time lab experience indeed inspired his strong passion for scientific research. After completing his undergraduate studies, he was accepted to pursue graduate studies at UC Santa Barbara. With no doubt, he was spoiled by California’s sunny days and beautiful beaches. His master’s research project involved developing catalysts for electrochemical water splitting under the supervision of a fantastic mentor, Dr. Lior Sepunaru. With his diverse skill set, he decided to join Song’s lab to explore exciting electrochemical organic synthesis. When not in lab, he likes hiking and fishing.
